CHALLENGE:
To ensure the building's value is maintained, a future-proof heating and cooling solution was required. The conversion had to be carried out without disrupting the building's use.
SOLUTION:
The Energy Surface was implemented as a quickly installable solution. The Energy Surface was installed in combination with the repair of the roof waterproofing and the installation of a photovoltaic system. It provides heating during the heating season and cooling during the cooling season.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The building is operated with a brine-to-water heat pump. This provides heating in winter and cooling in summer.
1.) The building owner commissioned the architectural firm Ritter Schumacher AG and the overall project management company Claudio Secomandi Bauberatung to submit the application and apply for funding. Dynamic building simulation by ZeroEdition GmbH determined the energy requirements for the temperature control system.
2.) Based on the energy output requirements and the available roof area, the decision was made to use solar thermal panels. To ensure the necessary heat extraction area, the solar thermal panels were installed in two layers on the flat roof. The solar thermal panels utilize the advantages of the parallel Tichelmann system and enable highly efficient energy transfer.
3.) The solar thermal panels were installed according to the detailed design by ZeroEdition GmbH. The supply and return lines from the mechanical room could be routed to the roof, eliminating the need for the gas chimney. BiosLehm e.U., in cooperation with Norline AG, implemented the installation of the solar thermal panels.
After the panels were installed, the roof was covered with gravel and a photovoltaic system was installed. Combined with this system and the heating system supplied by sct., the building was converted to renewable energy.
