CHALLENGE:
Due to the low floor construction heights and the high energy demand of the old buildings, a heating system had to be installed that offered high energy output and absorption capacity with a low installation height.
SOLUTION:
Energy panels were used as underfloor heating. This allows for heating during the heating season and cooling during the cooling season. To meet comfort requirements, wall heating was added to the underfloor heating in some apartments. The floor construction could be implemented with the necessary low height.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
1.) The architectural firm Ritter Schumacher AG was commissioned by the building owner, Schloss Salis Zizers AG, to renovate and extend Zizers Castle.
2.) Due to the energy output requirements and the limited available floor height, the decision was made to use the Energy Surface system. This system utilizes the advantages of the parallel Tichelmann system (closer pipe spacing with higher flow rate) and enables highly efficient energy transfer.
3.) The Energy Surface system was designed according to the detailed plans provided by Egger Wohlfühl-Klima GmbH. The Energy Surface system was implemented both in the floor structure and, in some rooms, on the walls.
Due to the renovation requirements (listed building status), thermal improvements to the exterior walls were not possible. The ceiling height was partially limited, and a predetermined staircase existed, resulting in only a low floor structure being available. The Energy Surface system was the only available system that could meet the energy output requirements.
