CHALLENGE:
An extension of the existing production hall was required. Two opposing sectional doors were installed to allow deliveries to the new hall extension even in winter. The existing gas-fired ventilation system was insufficient to heat the extension. As part of the extension, the existing ventilation system was to be replaced with an environmentally friendly heating system.
SOLUTION:
An energy surface was integrated into the new floor of the hall extension to activate the floor, and energy surfaces were installed on the existing walls of the hall to replace the existing gas-fired ventilation system with radiant heat.
PRODUCT:
174 m² of energy surface for wall heating in the existing building, combined with 500 m² of energy surface for floor heating in the new building.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The office and sales building was already heated with a groundwater heat pump. The production hall was heated with gas-fired ventilation units.
1.) The architectural firm Ritter Schumacher AG was commissioned by the building owner, Weber Prevost AG, to design the new production hall and revitalize the existing hall. Dynamic building simulation by ZeroEdition GmbH allowed for the determination of the energy requirements for the heating system.
2.) Based on the energy output requirements and the available distribution area (only possible in the floor slab), the decision was made to use a surface-mounted heat pump. This system utilizes the advantages of the parallel Tichelmann system, which allows for very close pipe routing and thus a very high energy output potential.
3.) Construction was carried out according to the detailed design by Züst Ingenieurbüro Haustechnik AG & casatec SA. Norline AG carried out the installation of the energy surfaces, both under the floor slab in the new building and on the wall in the existing production hall.
