SMART-BRICKS
What are SMART BRICKS?
Smart Bricks are prefabricated, cross-laminated solid wood modules that can be assembled like a plug-in system to create exterior walls and load-bearing or non-load-bearing interior walls. The system has already been successfully installed in over 110,000 m² of wall surface and is suitable for single-family homes, multi-story residential buildings, as well as agricultural, commercial, and municipal applications.
The handy Smart Bricks consist of five layers of solid wood, cross-laminated at specific points. This special layered structure results in dimensionally stable, non-deformable modules. The modules and accessories are manufactured using formaldehyde-free adhesives that meet the strictest requirements for structural integrity, environmental impact, and health.
Embedded between a sill plate and the masonry-end binder, the Smart Bricks combine the structural wall construction and the service cavity in a single product.
What makes Smart Bricks unique?
easy assembly
Through prefabricated cross-laminated solid wood modules that can be assembled as a plug-in system to form exterior and interior walls.
sustainable material
The Smart-Bricks are made from high-quality wood sourced from European forests and are processed only in combination with selected and environmentally friendly adhesives.
lightweight construction
Thanks to their design, Smart-Bricks are ideal lightweight components, weighing only about 33 kg/m², and are suitable for both renovations and new construction.
Fast processing
Thanks to the ingenious plug-in system and specially designed additional products, enormous time savings can be achieved during assembly compared to conventional building blocks.
FAQs

What makes the Smart Brick special?
The core of the Smart-Bricks wall system is a wooden module that can be easily assembled layer by layer to create entire walls. The individual modules are connected by a special interlocking system. Optimal corner and partition wall connections are guaranteed. Coordinated end caps, lintels, and beams for various opening types simplify wall construction. Cables and conduits can be routed within the hollow chambers of the Smart-Brick.
How is the Smart Brick structured?
The handy Smart-Bricks consist of five layers of solid wood, cross-laminated and spot-glued. This special layered construction results in dimensionally stable, non-deformable modules. The modules and accessories are manufactured using formaldehyde-free PUR adhesives that meet the strictest requirements for load-bearing capacity, environmental impact, and health.
In which application areas is the Smart Brick used?
The Smart Brick wall system is suitable for all areas of building construction. Smart Brick walls are used in single-family and multi-family homes, as well as in industrial, commercial and municipal buildings, agriculture, extensions, renovations, temporary structures and for infilling frame structures.
What does the wall structure look like with the Smart-Bricks?
Depending on the required U-value, external insulation can be applied. The facade can be constructed with ventilated timber cladding, facade panels, or any other ventilated facade system. Similar to solid construction, compact facades with various insulation materials are also a viable option for a simple facade design; the insulation panels simultaneously serve as a plaster base. Inside, the walls can be left exposed or clad with freely selectable interior finishing materials.
What sizes is the Smart-Brick available in?
The Smart-Brick is available in 8 different sizes, all with a depth of 160 mm.
We offer two heights. The standard height is 320 mm. The lower-profile version is 240 mm.
The Smart-Bricks are manufactured in four different lengths: 160, 320, 480, and 640 mm. This results in a horizontal grid spacing of 160 mm.
